In this course, you will have an overview of and introduction to the fundamentals of aeronautics from the beginning of aviation and continues all the way to the latest aircraft. This course covers the basic theory of the aerodynamics, airplane lift and drag, airplane stability and control, aircraft propulsion, airplane structure design and airplane instruments. If you want to learn what aeronautics engineering is all about, if you want to obtain a firmer grasp on the fundamental concepts and historical traditions, if you are a freshman who want to be a professional aircraft designer, please join us!

NanjingAerospace Museum is just located in our Minggugong Campus, which is officially completed and open to both our students and the public since 1992. The museum displays aircrafts, spacecrafts, and their structural components. We will organize two on-site classes in this course. One is for the illustration the military aircrafts produced in China and Russia, for examples J-6, J-7 and J-8. We will also show the students some small aircrafts designed and made by our senior students.The other on-site class is for thedemonstration of the structural components of an aircraft, such as wing, fuselage, landing gear and so on. We have broken down about five aircrafts into structural components. This will give the students very directly perceptual knowledge on each structural component in an aircraft.
