This course uses a combination of teaching methods. In the English teaching environment, the European and American universities, teaching ideas and teaching methods into the teaching of the curriculum to optimize the teaching effectiveness of the course. In the process of theory teaching, we combine blackboard with multi-media technology to show students English academic report skills, academic lectures videos and excellent academic papers, combine classroom discussion and on-site question and answer to improve teaching effect.

  From the English academic reports and papers writing the practical problems encountered to start the discussion of learning ideas, and then go to the details of academic reports and writing, the complex academic report notes and essay writing points into the teaching of international students, Academic reports, academic lectures, attentions on limb movements, the theoretical framework of academic papers and the details of academic exchanges, and so on, so as to enhance students' interest in learning.

  To discuss the topic of English academic reports and writing problems analysis, while enhancing the exchange and cooperation between Chinese and foreign students, the classroom atmosphere is good. Multimedia and computer, network classroom technology is frequently used in this course, especially for students to provide a vivid classroom and after-class learning environment, optimize the learning effect. Nearly three years of class size in the 50 -90 students, 85% of students come from anther country, classroom atmosphere is very well.

Course Assessment

It consists of the following three parts:

    1, oral report and reply: by the students to prepare an English PPT and in the classroom report, expounded on the course of understanding and harvest, accept the classroom teacher on the spot questions and answers;

    2, curriculum written report: students according to their own professional literature research, writing an academic thesis, and in the form of discussion in the classroom to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of academic writing;

    3, the international academic conference simulation: by the teachers and a number of senior doctoral students composed of judges, each student for 7 minutes of academic reports, the judges commented and scored.

Reference materials and expansion of the reference materials are in English mode, and the use of Hohai University excellent network teaching resources, integration of existing resources of Hohai University, the construction of the teaching resources system. Take full advantage of Hohai University Graduate School of a series of teaching equipment and the Hohai University, Academic Affairs Department teaching resources system specifically to provide network teaching environment. The rapid increase in the number of international students in recent years has also provided the conditions for the smooth development of this course, to build a different cultural, linguistic and academic foundation of the interaction between researchers. The past five years, the number of students, especially foreign students increased year by year.
