This is the second part of a three course sequence in the differential and integral calculus of functions of one independent variable. In this class, topics include differentiation of logarithmic functions, exponential functions, and inverse trigonometric functions. The advanced techniques of integration, such as integration by parts, trigonometric substitution, and partial fraction decomposition, are discussed. The L'Hopital's rule will be revisited to discuss the indeterminant forms other than 0/0 and infinity/infinity. Applications to the physical sciences and engineering will be a focus of this course, as this sequence of courses is designed to meet the needs of students in these disciplines.
Students planning to take this course must demonstrate a proficiency in Calculus for Engineering Sciences I, through the successful completion of this course by achieving an adequate score in the Final Exam offered by the Mathematics Department. This sequence of courses is considered foundational to all higher-level courses in mathematics.
