II.Teaching Objectives and Requirements

1. Develop the Ss’ awareness of making arrangements;

2. Ask Ss to remember useful words and expressions about Australia;

3. Strengthen Ss’ ability to do the travel plans;

4. Provide Ss some information about how to plan a guided tour.

III. Teaching Procedures 

Step 1 Warming-up activity

a.Ask Ss to collect information about Australia;

b.Ask Ss to look at the photos and the word list in the box to match the photos with the name.

Step 2 Language and culture

Australia located between the Indian Ocean and the South Pacific Ocean 

It's the sixth largest country in the world

 The coastline of Australia stretches for  25,760 kilometers 

 It has 6 states: New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South  Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania 

It's territories: the Australian Capital Territory and the  Northern Territory.

Step 3 Lead-in  Oral presentation

What country are they in?

What is the country famous for? Make a list of facts.

Have you ever been there? Would you like to go?

What sights would you visit?

Step 4 Detailed study of the passage  

Task1: Understanding

Listen to the passage and complete the factfile.

Task 2: Extensive listening

Listen to the passage three times. When the passage is read for the first time, listen for the general idea. When the passage is read for the second time, figure out the best words or expressions to complete the passage in exercise 4.  Write down either the exact words you hear or the main points in your own words. 

Task 3: Intensive listening

Listen to the passage and answer the questions.

Listen to the passage again and check the answers.

Listen to the passage again and match the places with their descriptions.
