Big name


英语和汉语一样，有本义和引申义，引申义很多时候是另外一个意思。比如，Big name字面意思是“大名”， Big hand字面意思是“大手”，Big time字面意思是“大时代”，但实际的引申意义可不是这样！

Big name = 知名人士//团体，尤指音乐家或演员

Poor attendance at the concert was put down to the lack of big names.

由于缺少知名音乐家，这场音乐会的上座率很低。

同样表示重要“人物”的还有：

Big Cheese【非正式】要人、大人物

Big Noise 【非正式】要人、有影响力的人
