There are obvious differences in festivals and customs between China and western countries.
Chinese festivals mainly originate from the annual solar terms, praying for good luck and happiness for themselves and their families. The theme of festival customs is eating and drinking. The main reason is that Chinese people pursue the value of life for the purpose of health and longevity, and achieve it through rich food.
Western festivals mainly originate from religion and related cultures, and they remember God and pray for shelter. The theme of festival customs is mainly play. The reason is that the pursuit of life values by Westerners is healthy and happy, and is realized through religious and recreational activities.
The differences in traditional festivals of different nationalities are closely related to the differences in cultural systems, living patterns and lifestyles of the nation or of many nationalities with the same cultural characteristics.
Please take China's main festivals: Spring Festival, Tomb Sweeping Day, Dragon Boat Festival, and Mid Autumn Festival as examples to compare them with Christmas, Halloween, Easter, and Thanksgiving in Western countries to see the specific differences between Chinese and Western cultures.
