Dialogue 1

Mary is leaving Guangzhou for Jinjiang today. And she is in BaiyunAirport for her flight now.

 (InArea B)

Mary:          Excuse me, officer. Am I on the rightarea for security check

OfficerA:    Where is your boarding gate? Couldyou show me your boarding pass?

Mary:          Iam leaving for Jinjiang. Here is my boarding pass.

Officer A:    Your boarding gate is A 16. This is Area B ofdomestic departure hall. I am afraidyou must go to Area A for security check.

Mary:          How can I get there?

Officer A:    Area A is in the opposite of Area B. Please turnaround and walk through the departure hall all the way to the end. Then youwill find Area A.

Mary:          Thank you very much.

OfficerA:    My pleasure.

(In Area A)

Mary:          Excuse me, officer! Am I in Area A ofsecurity check?

Officer B:  Yes. And No 1 passage here is for firstclass or business class passengers.No 2 to Number 10 is for economy class passengers of domestic flights.

Mary:          Which passage should I wait for?

Officer B:  You may use any passage you like except No 4passage, because that is for male passengers only. If you like, you can go to No5 passage. That is arranged specially for female passengers. Besides, there arefewer passengers in that passage. Therefore you may finish your check soonerthere.

P: (looks worried) What can I do?

O:What’s the matter? Can I help you?

P: My flight willtake off half an hour later, but there are so many people waiting for securitycheck. I’m afraid I will miss my flight.

O: According to therule, you should come to the airport at least two hours in advance for security check.

P: Yes. I came tothe airport three hours earlier. But there are too many passengers waitingtoday. There are only two passengers in that passage. Can I go there?

O: I’m afraid not. Thatpassage is for staff and crew only.

P: My boarding timeis due. What should I do?
