O:Yes, madam. All the passengers have to be checked for the security of the aircraft.

P: ButI’m pregnant. I’m afraid the metalinstruments will do harm to my baby.

O: Don’t worry. Themetal detector accords with the safety standard and is harmless to the pregnant passengers.

P: ButI am still afraid of the radiation.

O: Youcan stand a little far away from this scanning machine.

P: No,I don’t think it works. Are there any other ways of inspection?

O: Ifyou really insist, we can ask a woman surveyorto check you with hand.

P: OK,I’ll accept.

O:Please bypass the gate. That womansurveyor will check you by physical search.

Dialogue 2

(A passenger onwheelchair is waiting for body search and he looks anxiously.)

(O=officer；P=passenger)

O:What’s the matter? Can I help you?

P: Oh,yes. I had an accident and can’t walk now. I have to depend on my wheelchair.

O: I am sorry tohear that. Did you get approval of using your own wheelchair from the airlinecompany when checking in?

P:Yes, I did. They offered me a free wheelchair, but I insisted using my own.

O: Isee. But we still have to scan yourwheelchair, according to the rule.

P: OK, no problem.

O: Could you standup by yourself?

P: Yes.

O: Do you have a crutch? If you don’t have a crutch,could you stand up with the help of a wall?

P: I bring a crutchalong. I can stand up with the help of my crutch.

O: Could you passyour crutch to me? We need to scan your crutch first. And then we will give itback to you and help you stand up with your crutch.

P: Here you are.

(Officer takes the crutch to scan.)

O: Here is yourcrutch. Please stand up carefully with your crutch, so that we can check you.And after we scan your wheelchair and finish your security check, you can haveyour wheelchair then.
