Dialogue1

P:    Come, please! My husband is unconscious!

A:  What’s happened, madam?

P:  My husband said just now that he couldn’tbreathe. And when he tried to stand up, he just fell and fainted away

A:   (To the unconscious man) Hello, sir, can youhear me?

P:  Oh, he is pale.

A:  He is not breathing! Please put him on thefloor. (Administers CPR. A few minutes later) Ok…he isbreathing again.

P:    Thank goodness.

A:  (To another flight attendant) Sophie, couldyou help me get the mask? Thank you, Sophie!

P:  Is he alright now? What can I do?

A:  Don’t worry. We will take care of him. But Ithink we need the help of a doctor.

 

Dialogue2

A:   Excuseme, sir. Your call button is on. Are you a doctor?

P1:  Yes. My name is Tom Brown. What’s the matterwith the passenger

A:  The elderlyman over there went unconscious just now and he stopped breathing.

P1:  Oh no!

A:I’ve administered CPR and he is now breathing again. We’ve got an oxygen maskon him. But I think he needs more help. Could you come and check?

P1:Sure. His pulse is quite weak andhis breathing is shallow… Are thereany other symptoms?

P2:Doctor, my husband complained about chest pain before he fainted away and he sweat a lot.

P1:Madam, I’m afraid that your husband is having a heart attack. (To the flight attendant) Miss, the patient needsimmediate treatment; otherwise, he would be in danger.

A:  OK. I need to inform the captain. Thank youvery much, Mr. Brown.

P1:  My pleasure.
