Handing out Customs DeclarationForm

Air stewards andstewardesses are supposed to hand out customs declaration formsduring the flight to foreign passengers. These passengers are required to fillout the basic information such as full name, sex, date of birth, nationality, passport and visa numbers and purpose of the visit. In addition, passengers mayalso need to fill out other forms concerning health or other conditions.

In the customsdeclaration form, passengers are also required to fill in additionalinformation like the nature of their luggage, if they are bringing with themany items like animals or plants.

In the process offilling out of the form, air stewards and stewardesses aresupposed to provide necessary help to those passengers who are not familiarwith the procedures, in case they should make mistakes.

Cabin Preparation

Shortly before thelanding of the airplane, another important duty of the air stewards andstewardesses is to make sure that passengers are all prepared for landing.First, the air announcement will remind the passengers to fasten their seatbelts for the landing. Air stewards and stewardesses will check throughout thecabin to ensure that every passenger follows the instructions. In the meantime, all the food and drink should be put away. Air stewards and stewardessesshould also prepare themselves for situations such as when passengers attemptto use the lavatory or get to the front of the cabin in order to disembark assoon as the airplane lands. Since such situations might disrupt thenormal procedures of disembarkationand cause certain risks, stewards and stewardesses are supposed to stop themand ask them to follow the instructions.
