2023年9月,据央广网题为《一台手机让全村忙起来 专家:淘宝产业带主播能为家乡好货美景代言》的新闻消息,早在2018年,直播已经成为淘宝承担社会责任的利器,推动头部主播参与助农活动,在“2018脱贫攻坚公益直播盛典”上,来自50个贫困县域的102个农产品亮相淘宝直播,销售额破千万元。文中还列举了一系列直播助农的典型案例,比如徐同学是一名95后公司合伙人,大学期间参与学校一个创业协会,开始利用淘宝直播尝试创业,毕业以后,几位创业协会的会员直接转型为“正规军”,创办了公司,现在公司旗下的直播间每天的交易额超过20万元,帮200个村庄卖农产品。
