Homework

1. Preview:  Reread the Methods part of Unit 1 and Unit6. Pay attention to the subheadings, tenses andsentence patterns.

 2. Review：Read ”Plagiarism Exercises”, pay attention to the keys, and know more about forms of plagiarism.

3. Written task 1: paraphrase the following sentences (1 point)

1. Some plants release certain aromas to alert their plant neighbors that they are under attack.

2. Polar bears are almost undetectable by infrared cameras because of how they conserve heat.

3. Human eyes get used to darkness after an hour, but by then they will be 100,000 times more sensitive to light.

 4. Written task 2 / Task for group presentation: 

Read and analyze ONE of the six INTRODUCTIONs of SAs (selected articles) carefully. Analyze according to the 4 steps below. (5 points)

    1) analyze and point out the three moves of CARS model, 

    2) find out typical tenses or sentence patterns for each move,

    3) analyze citation focus  and tense  (better in a table)

    4) comment: whether it is a good Introduction?
