Homework

1. Preview: Think about: What are the contents you put into a writing about tables or figures? What are the words or sentence patterns you use? What do you pay attention to when writing about tables or figures?

2. Written task / Task for group presentation: see Guidelines

Read the Results section of one SA carefully, analyze the figures in it, and summarize the sentence patterns. （5 points)

1) find the figures in the SA and label their types;

2) sentence pattern 1: location of tables / figures;

3) sentence pattern 2: presenting the relationship among variables;

4) sentence pattern 3: presenting the tendency of a variable fluctuating over time

5) sentence pattern 4: softening the strength of claim (e.g.: can, seem)
