After he recovers from being stunned, Henry asks thedining house proprietor (named Harris) for change; Harris tells him not toworry about payment. Afterwards, Henry reads the note from the brothers, whichexplains that they have made a bet on him and that he has to return to thehouse in 30 days; the writer of the note stated that, if Henry wins the bet forhim, Henry can have any situation that he is qualified to fill. Henry realizesthat he would not be easily able to exchange that note in the bank withoutbeing questioned about how he had come to have it, charged with theft and arrested.He would also not be able to spend it since no ordinary person would be able tochange it. Finally, in desperation, Henry decides to see if he can use the noteto get a cheap suit to replace his rags, similar to the way he got his meal;when he pulls out the million-pound note to pay, the store manager gives him anentire wardrobe on credit. Ultimately, he becomes a celebrity in London as the "vestpocket million-pounder" or the "vest-pocket monster", andHarris' dining house becomes so famous that Harris actually lends Henry money,but Henry tries to keep his borrowings under control so that he will be able topay everyone back over time when he gets his situation.

It isbased on the Mark Twain short story,"The Million Pound Bank Note".
Ronald Elwin Neame CBE BSC (23 April 1911 –16 June 2010) was an English film cinematographer, producer, screenwriter and director.As cinematographer for the British war film One of Our Aircraft Is Missing (1943),he received an Academy Award nomination for Best SpecialEffects. During a partnership with director David Lean,he produced Brief Encounter (1945), GreatExpectations (1946), and Oliver Twist (1948), receiving two AcademyAward nominations for writing. Neame then moved into directing, and somenotable films included, I Could Go On Singing (1963),Judy Garland'slast film, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969),which won Maggie Smith her first Oscar, Scrooge (1970), starring Albert Finney,and the action-adventure disaster film The Poseidon Adventure (1972).For his contributions to the film industry, Neame was appointed a Commander of the Order of the BritishEmpire (CBE), and received the BAFTA Academy Fellowship Award,the highest award the British Film Academy can give afilmmaker.

The style of this film adaptation which is faithfulto the originalis sohumorous. Mark Twain used hyperbole describing how our hero defeatedsnobbishness repeatedly. What the audiences appreciate most is the detaileddescription of different people’s ridiculous actions before one million pounds,vivid, funny, ironic and humorous, which forms a Caricature.
